First things first then .....

It's me!Welcome to Nonstop to Tokyo [.co.uk]! In case you didn't know, my name's Tim, and this is my personal home on the web. I'm a man of many tastes, but a while back I became quite obsessed with anything Japanese, hence the name of this site (which is named after a Pizzicato Five song, by the way). Anyway, here's a few more general things about me and/or this site, which is primarily a weblog about me, with a couple of extras tagged on now and then when I fancy it, like the photos of my holiday to Japan in 2003.

So, about me. I'm a 29 30 year old gay white male. I'm Taurus, for anyone that's into all that stuff. In true Japanese style I would tell you my blood type, but I've got absolutely no idea what it is. I'm a lazy sod at times, and quite laissez-faire about life in general, although get me talking about something I'm interested in and you won't be able to shut me up!

I moved to London from Southampton in 2007 in order to move in with Y, who I've now been seeing for 3 years!! Before London, I lived in Southampton for over 10 years (bloody hell!), although I'm originally from a small town in the county of Wiltshire, which I've no great love for; I only go back there now to see my parents.

My interests are .....

Kind of diverse, although everyone says that don't they. I suppose special mention should go to Pizzicato Five and Shonen Knife, two incredible Japanese bands who fuelled my initial interest in Japanese culture and turned it into an obsession (especially once I discovered eBay .... but that's a story for another day!). Also worth a special note are the Pixies (a contender for the Best Band Ever), the Breeders, Throwing Muses, and all the various off-shoots from these three bands, who are possibly the finest the Western world has to offer, imho. Since I first wrote this 'about me' page several years ago, I've also got heavily into Talulah Gosh and Heavenly, purveyors of some of the finest indie girl-pop that has ever existed. Some may say 'shoe-gazing', but I don't think that does them justice at all.

If I had to say what I enjoy doing, rather than just what I like, I would have to say going to gigs is possibly my favourite activity, followed closely by (in no real order): soaking up the atmosphere in big cities, going to the cinema, listening to music, reading (especially manga, the gayer the better!), watching DVDs (especially Buffy/Angel, anime, and Hong Kong action flicks), going out, spending time with family and friends, and, of course, surfing the internet & blogging. And last but certainly not least - spending time with my Y, of course. So there you have it.

My bad points are .....

Being too shy would have to be the main one. I can clam up if I feel uncomfortable for any reason, which really bugs the hell out of me. I also hate being wrong, but then who doesn't?! Um what else ..... Oh yeah, I'm sometimes on the lazy side of being laid back, but I've mentioned that already. I'm quite bad at keeping in touch, although sometimes I'm really good; if I don't do something straight away though, then the chances are it will be weeks/months before I get round to it, and I'm just as bad with emails and text messages, despite the fact that they're so easy and instantaneous! I'm also bad at making important decisions, I really need to be pushed sometimes. I guess it stems from the fact that I'm quite naturally cautious, which can be an advantage sometimes, but can also be really frustrating.

When I grow up, I want to be .....

Yep, it's me! I think this is one of the earliest pics I ever posted of myselfThe star of my own real-life shounen-ai manga. I quite see myself as Ryo in Fake, cos Dee is HOT and we'd make a cute couple! *Ahem* moving on ..... I still want to do a Masters degree at some point, although I'm not sure what in. Now that I've moved to London, I'm looking forward to enjoying life in the big city for a while. Some other places in the UK that I'd like to live inclide Brighton, Bristol, and Bath (what is it about cities beginning with B?!)

Travel also features highly in my list of plans for the future; I'd love to go to Australia and Japan again, when I can afford it. New York and San Francisco appeal as well. I expect I'll go back to Malaysia/Singapore again as well. And then .... who knows! Some proper travelling time out would be nice, although it means giving up work and an income and security ...... but it's definitely an option. Emigration is also an idea that I've toyed with in the past, which obviously came up again while I was seeing Lester, and is still an option with Y; I feel less tied to this country than I have done previously, if that makes sense, although living in London is almost like living in a different country anyway!

Final words .....

And that's just a small(ish!) insight into who I am, really. You can, of course, find out a lot more about me by reading the posts on the main page and also those in the archives, if you're a glutton for punishment (there's tonnes of it!). And that's it, in a nutshell. I hope you enjoy the site. If you have any questions, then feel free to email me. Or if you're in a hurry, try searching this site:
